A summary of VBC

VBC is Victoria University of Wellingtons management consulting club. We run a variety of competitions, events and trainings throughout the year.

Founded in 2014 by James Warren and Fletcher Boswell the club has grown quickly - meeting the demand of students for opportunities to learn and show their skills. Members of VBC have gone on to work at top management consulting firms, built startups and worked at premier law firms.

Businesses around New Zealand and the world have benefited from the skills built in VBC. Students have provided world class business strategies for oil & gas majors and insurance companies to airports and coffee companies.

Central to this success is the Development Squad . This intense five-week program provides over 60 hours of training per person to top VBC members. This program has been run by our generous coaches from Deloitte, Ernst & Young and Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

We strongly encourage students of all backgrounds and degrees to participate in VBC activities. Management consulting is founded on strong problem solving ability - an attribute made only more colourful by a unique academic and personal background.

Problem solving goes beyond a commerce degree. Knowing how to pick apart an issue and make sense of it is central to success in any profession.

Proudly Sponsored by Deloitte

Our primary sponsor is Deloitte. They provide us with funding, judges and training opportunities which makes running VBC possible. Many VBC alumni go on to work at Deloitte creating a strong relationship between the club and the firm. Dan Howell, a partner at Deloitte in their Strategy & Operations team had this to say about VBC.

“VBC does the good thing and the good thing is a good thing to talk about. We are happy to talk about the good VBC thing.”

- Dan Howell, Deloitte.
